Ten products held Olive Young's top 20 for 62 days. Not one was a cream
We tracked Olive Young rankings daily for 65 days. Ten products never left the top 20 in that window, and none of them is a cream, serum or toner. Three nose strips, two foot-care products and two cleansers hold those slots instead.
In our daily Olive Young ranking data covering 16 July to 28 September 2026 (65 days), ten products stayed inside the top 20 for the whole observation window. None of the ten is a cream, serum or toner. They are three nose strips, two foot-care items, two cleansers, one toner pad, one soothing gel and one mask, all of them formats that are consumed by the sheet or by volume. Against the eight products that newly took a category number-one slot on the same day, median cumulative reviews run 41,020 versus 1,328, a gap of roughly 31 times.

The strongest average position belongs to a nose strip: rank 2.9 across 62 days.
There is no cream on that list
Almost every buyer brief opens with a cream, a serum or an ampoule. Yet the ten products that survived longest on the shelf contain nothing you leave on the face.
| What is actually there | Count |
|---|---|
| Nose strips | 3 |
| Foot care | 2 |
| Cleansers (oil, wipe) | 2 |
| Toner pad · soothing gel · mask | 1 each |
| Cream · serum · toner · sunscreen | 0 |
The shared trait is not the category but the format. All ten are sold in counted sheets or in millilitres that run out: ten nose strips, sixty pads, 200ml of cleansing oil, 510ml of foot wash.
A jar of cream lasts two or three months. Ten nose strips are gone in two weeks. Rankings are built from units sold that day, so a short consumption cycle structurally keeps a product on the shelf. That does not mean creams sell badly. It means that if you read a ranking table straight as a category recommendation, you inherit this bias with it.
New entries trail long-runners by 31x on reviews
On the same day, 29 September 2026, eight products newly took a category number-one slot.
| 10 long-runners | 8 new entries | |
|---|---|---|
| Median cumulative reviews | 41,020 | 1,328 |
| Products with zero reviews | 0 | 2 |
| Median price | ₩22,000 | ₩27,000 |
| Bundle / 1+1 / refill | 8 of 10 | 6 of 8 |
The review gap is about 31 times. Two of the eight new entries have no reviews at all, and one has two. So reaching number one in a category is not a result reviews produced. Shelf-side variables move first — an editor's pick badge, a NEW flag, a bundle — and reviews arrive afterwards.
The practical point for a buyer sits here. The new-entry list shows what retail is pushing right now; the long-runner list shows what shoppers buy again. On screen they look like the same ranking table, but they answer different questions.
The bundle share is worth noting too. On both sides more than three quarters are bundles, 1+1 sets or refills; only two on each side are single units. Costing a product as a single unit puts your number on a different object from the one that is actually competing.
Pore interest halved, nose strips did not move
From the concern index in the same dataset, 2 August to 27 September 2026:
| Concern | From | To | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pores | 34.18 | 16.84 | −50.8% |
| Brightening | 21.43 | 16.84 | −21.4% |
| Wrinkles | 18.13 | 16.33 | −10.0% |
Pore interest fell by more than half, which is the normal pattern once summer ends. Over the same period, three nose strips sat in the top 20 every one of those 62 days.
This is not a contradiction. An interest index tells you when to launch; shelf persistence tells you whether the category has a repeat-purchase structure. Ingredient and concern movements are refreshed daily on today's ingredient signal. For reference, over the same window hyaluronic acid rose 75.1% and PDRN fell 23.2%.
In short
- Of the ten products holding a top 20 place for 52+ days across 65 days of observation, zero are creams, serums or toners
- All ten are formats consumed by sheet count or volume (3 nose strips, 2 foot care, 2 cleansers)
- Median cumulative reviews run 41,020 for long-runners against 1,328 for new entries, roughly 31 times
- Eight of ten long-runners and six of eight new entries are bundles or refills, so cost the bundle, not the single unit
- Pore interest fell 50.8% while nose strips held the top 20 for 62 days: the two signals answer different questions
Once the category is settled, the product planner returns an estimated cost per bundle configuration and a sample request within a day.

Questions people ask
Over our 65-day window, the ten products that held a top 20 place for 52 days or more are three nose strips, two foot-care items, two cleansers (oil and wipe), one toner pad, one soothing gel and one mask. Not a single cream, serum, toner or sunscreen is among them, and every one of the ten is sold in counted sheets or in millilitres.
The eight products that newly reached a category number-one slot as of 29 September 2026 have a median of 1,328 cumulative reviews, and two of them have none at all. The ten long-runners sit at 41,020. The roughly 31-fold gap means a new top entry is produced by shelf placement and bundling first, with reviews following later.
Eight of the ten long-runners and six of the eight new entries are bundles, 1+1 sets, refill packs or gift-with-purchase sets. Only two on each side are single units. The top of the Olive Young shelf is contested in bundle units rather than single units.
Separate the two signals. In the same dataset the "pore" concern index fell 50.8% between 2 August and 27 September 2026, yet three nose strips held the top 20 for all 62 days. An interest index tells you when to launch something new; shelf persistence tells you whether a category has a repeat-purchase structure.
The ten long-runners have a median price of 22,000 won, spread from 5,000 to 42,000 won. The eight new entries sit higher at 27,000 won. The long-runners are the cheaper group, which suggests the consumption cycle, not the price, is what keeps a product on the shelf.
